Making food work for her

I felt very unhappy with how I looked and felt, frumpy and lacking energy I just felt unhealthy, I knew I was overweight and I was desperate to do something about it. I knew I needed a complete lifestyle change but I had no idea whereto start. This was affecting all areas of my life and I was very under confident.

What was your original reason for joining U Fit?

Before March 2016, and since I was a teenager, I'd done all the usual things. Yo yo dieting. Losing some weight then putting it back on, plus a little bit more. I'd tried everything. It was only when I got a copy of U Magazine and read about U Fit Studio that I thought, this looks different.

How did you first get started?

I did a 6 week challenge. At the end of the challenge I thought, right, I know what to do now! I can just do this at home. But it wasn't the same without the support. With no accountability and after two weeks I realised it wasn't going to happen, so I went and joined and committed to the full year.

What sort of results have you had?

I have lost over 11kg and kept the weight off.

What other benefits have you had from improving your fitness and health?

I think I can say I've put my own health as a priority. When I started out, in 2016, it was about looking a certain way.

Now I care about my health and longevity, and want to have a body as healthy as can be - for me and for my daughter.

People think you need to eat less and a boring diet to achieve your weight goals - but that's not true

What have been your biggest challenges?

There was a downside for a while - l'd pushed myself hard, with hindsight a bit too hard too fast, and my hormones weren't right. So, I slowly increased my weight . It took about a year to get my hormones fully settled down. Try to be consistent rather than perfect

Leave your pre-conceived ideas at the door and trust your coach (my experience at U Fit). It's easy to think you know better, but you need to follow expert advice and experience what could work for you.

Why do you consider U Fit great value for money?

It completely changed the direction of where I was going. I realised so much more was possible for me, and it started a new chapter in my life.

What does the future hold?

I can see lifestyle conditions like diabetes in my family, and I want to try to do what Ican do to take charge of my life and not just let things happen to me. I want my daughter to see a healthy lifestyle in action. And any weight loss I pursue needs to be done in a healthy way.
