I was in a wheelchair for a long time. I'd watch people's feet moving, all the time wondering if l'd ever be able to do that again. When I came home I had lost 25% of both lungs capacity. Even now I have much reduced lung capacity. And my mobility was completely restricted.

What was your original reason for joining U Fit?

I was in a wheelchair for a long time. I'd watch people's feet moving, all the time wondering if l'd ever be able to do that again. When I came home I had lost 25% of both lungs capacity. Even now I have much reduced lung capacity. And my mobility was completely restricted.

I'd lost some weight and got stronger with first a physiotherapist and then a personal trainer. Sam's face kept coming up on Facebook. I wasn't happy where I was.

How did you first get started?

| lived not too far from there and rang up, spoke with Bhav.

What I told Sam was I just want to enjoy coming to the gym. If you can get me to come in three times a week and enjoy it, that's your job done!

What sort of results have you had?

My resting heart rate is now 43. My blood pressure is normal. Most days I walk 30000 steps. I train three to five times a week, a mix of classes, bike sessions and strength training.

What other benefits have you had from improving your fitness and health?

I love my life. I have freedom, time. My values are my family and freedom.

What have been your biggest challenges?

I have an ongoing issue, because of the amount of surgery I underwent before, which is always at risk of re-occurring. I went to hospital for a check up and the consultant said I have made an absolutely remarkable recovery - he said, when you walked in, after reading your notes, I thought the wrong person had walked in!

Is U Fit a comfortable place to train?

I loved the friendliness. It was very clean and not intimidating. I'd been in gyms before with men huffing and puffing around weights. But here it was very welcoming. The new state-of-the-art studio is stunning. It's a pleasure to come and train here with the expert coaches. Their impeccably high standards have led to an incredible transformation in my body shape and weight loss.
